Destiny 2 drops expertise based matchmaking from most PvP modes

The significant Destiny 2 news this week was the launching of Season of Arrivals along with the reveal of the next growth, Beyond Light. (Along with also the insta-kill grenade launcher, I suppose.) But big things are occurring in the Crucible, also. Bungie announced today that it’s eliminated skill-based matchmaking from each of the game’s PvP playlists except Elimination, Survival, and Survival: Freelance.

Bungie said the change was created in response to community feedback, and should shorten queue times, improve connection quality in games, and will even”play into the advantages of Crucible being a bombastic, frenetic activity sport,” in which the priority is having fun rather than winning at any cost.

Trials of Osiris matchmaking will last to be based on the amount of wins on your Passages, Bungie said. “The pursuit of Glory Points in Survival and trying to go Flawless in Trials of Osiris will permit those playlists to fortify that the outcome of games are significant and keep the stakes high. We want the rest of the Crucible to be of a high-stakes environment where gamers can have a more relaxed experience and just enjoy the Destiny multiplayer sandbox.”

Destiny 2 drops high

The Crucible matchmaking changes are already live, and Bungie said it would keep an eye on the situation and fix if and where necessary. It also revealed that, ahead of the launch of Season of Arrivals, it discovered a bug that permits gamers to equip all current Charged with Light armor mods on any Season of the Worthy armor bits, without having previously acquired them. That will be cleared up in the next hotfix, but until that comes Bungie is going to leave it so players may test out the mods for your week.

Here is the Complete list of fixes coming from the 2.9.0.1 hotfix:

  • The Guardian Angel artifact armor mod isn’t granting its perk once the mod is slotted.
  • The Breach Resonator artifact armor mod isn’t granting its perk when the mod is slotted.
  • On controllers, Sprint will cancel if players press the Sprint action again.
  • Players will a full engram inventory of Umbral Engrams may be blocked from finishing the Season of Arrivals opening pursuit.
  • Visible holes are present in the EDZ terrain where the Seraph Towers was.
